The bi-annual Doe Bay Adventure is URF's most popular,
or at least most often
repeated neo-tribal experience. Many
of our DBA's find one DBA to be sufficient
for a lifetime and call it quits.
Once each Spring and each Fall URF secures weekend
accommodations at the
unique Doe Bay Resort in Washington State's pristine
San Juan islands. Participants
may travel far distances by air or boat to reach
URFDBA (pronounced urf-dba).
The campfire chant for the URFDBA, of course is:
"Urfdba Urfdba Urfdba Urfdba Urfdba Urfdba Urfdba"
(Pause and repeat indefinitely or until nearby campers
or villagers come make you stop. Some Events
Associates encourage a style of chanting in which
volume is increased on each double-stanza repeat.)
Elements of a typical URF* event: people, fun,
self-directed recreation,
wandering barefoot in wet grass, flinging stones
into Doe Bay, costume parties,
developing new pasta recipes and publishing recipes,
clothing optional hot tubbing.
